Happy Thanksgiving

What will you be doing this Thanksgiving?

In a world of gratitude this is the best time of year. A time of mellow fruitfulness and harvest festivals. The barns are filled with food and we relax into the warm fire glow of dark cosy evenings. This was always the time of story telling and craft making, a time when people get together and enjoyed each others company. Being thankful for all that you have and, all that you will have, raises your mood and increases your sense of wellbeing and happiness.

When we can go to the supermarket and get any produce at any time of the year it is easy to forget that the seasons exist. In a busy world, when we are rushing about, it can be just as easy to forget who we are, and forget the people around us. Perhaps this is a time to reconnect with those nearest and dearest to you.

Is the Traditional family dinner a thing of the past?

In today’s households where both parents go to work and kids have busy schedules with school, homework and an array of activities, finding time for a gathering at the table seems all but impossible. Meals times can either be a quick fuel stop of fast food on the move.

Yet studies have shown time and again that eating together has multiple benefits for everyone involved, but especially for children and not only for nutritional purposes. A shared event when we sit down at a table with family and friends and together break bread, talk and appreciate each other. The dinner table can be the perfect environment where children learn how to conduct conversations, observe good manners, serve others, listen, solve conflicts and compromise.

How about you take time this thanksgiving to sit and eat with those that you love, appreciate all that is good in your life, and be grateful for the plentiful universe that we live in. When we share there is enough for everyone, enough of everything, food, care and, love.

Live in the present and most of all be happy
